Swami Vivekanand Charitable Hospital, Gangotri Dham started its services for the community from 29th September, 2021 and is operational during the Char Dham Yatra season. The ICU equipped hospital is situated at an altitude of 11200 feet and has staff trained at AIIMS Rishikesh in dealing with the health issues of high altitude. The hospital is located near Gangotri Dham bus stand and is offering totally free services round the clock to the devotees as well as the local populace thus becoming the only hospital in the area to do so.
One of the Char Dhams, Gangotri is a small town with the temple of Goddess Ganga at its heart and is one of highest pilgrimages in Bharat. Ganga river descended from heaven to earth at Gangotri. The actual origin of the river is at Gaumukh in the Gangotri glacier, 19 km away from Gangotri and is accessible by trekking.
