Dear friends
Jai Badrivishal,
SVHM (Swami Vivekanand Health Mission) Society an NGO based at Uttarakhand has been working relentlessly on the domains of health, education and self-sustenance under the divine motto that “Service to Mankind is Service to God” (नर सेवा नारायण सेवा / मानव सेवा माधव सेवा).
Through their network of eight charitable hospitals, two of which are in Badrinath Dham & Kedarnath Dham, the SVHM society is providing comprehensive health and medical services to the needy and deprived people of Uttarakhand. The SVHM society under Shiksha Abhiyan adopted five schools as: Saraswati Sishumandir Bamini, Badrinath & Pandukeswar, Saraswati Sishumandir, Negwad and Saraswati Sishumandir, Urgam , then brought infrastructural improvements and upgraded the quality of lives of teachers and students. Due to the prevailing Covid-19 situation pilgrimage hasn’t resumed to Badrinath & other Dhams as well which has impacted the lives of local residents whose livelihood is dependent on the pilgrimage season. There are about 105 families of Bamini village (adjoining to Badrinath) who bring Holy Tulsi leaves from nearby forests and then prepare garlands from them which the pilgrims offer to the deity Bhagwan Badrivishal. All such families, especially womenfolk used to earn their livelihood by selling these holy garlands to pilgrims for offering the same to the lord. The COVID 19 pandemic has severely affected these families as the pilgrimage has not begun yet. To overcome this hour of crisis the SVHM Society under the swavalamban abhiyan initiated a drive to support these families by means of donations so that they can earn and make their both end meet. This again serves the SVHM society motto that “Service to Mankind is Service to God” (नर सेवा नारायण सेवा / मानव सेवा माधव सेवा).
21-06-2020 – A meeting was organized by SVHM Badrinath team with an effort to resolve the financial crisis faced by the people of Bamini Village.
