Dr. Ajay Agarwal performing the surgery along with his team at SVCH Petshal
A patient named Rakesh Nath age 30, visited the routine OPD of SVCH Petshal during first week of June and was diagnosed as inguinal hernia requiring surgery. Rakesh Nath, a cook by profession was working in Archaeological Survey of India, Jageshwar Dham and was not in a position to bear the cost of the surgery and the nearest facility which provided the same was 100 km away.
The SVCH Petshal though equipped with an OT and latest facilities had never conducted any surgery. The facility Doctors took notice of the patient’s situation and requested Dr. Ajay Agarwal, a renowned surgeon and Dr. Manoranjan Pant, senior Anesthesiologist from Rudrapur who have been visiting regularly SVCH Petshal on every Sunday during multidisciplinary camps for providing their services and performing the surgery on this patient.
Both the Doctors who have been associated with the SVHM society for long readily agreed despite the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic scenario and asked the facility to get the preoperative tests done. The duo along with their teams and equipment, travelled almost 140 km and more than 4 hours to reach Petshal and performed the surgery (herniorrhaphy) on 21st June 2020 thus marking a historic day for the facility. The surgery done relieved the patient of the pains he would have endured including financial burden and reflects the ever-serving attitude of the SVHM society, their associates and members.
The patient is now recovering and expressed his sincere gratitude to the Doctors of Rudrapur and the SVCH Petshal team.
