Celebration of "Guru Purnima" & The State Festival of Uttarakhand “Harela” at Swami Vivekanand Charitable Hospital, Dharmawala

Swami Vivekanand Charitable Hospital, Dharmawala celebrated “Guru Purnima” and the state festival of Uttarakhand “Harela” on 16^th of July 2022 with full religious fervour and gaiety.

The program was graced by the auspicious presence of Swami Prem Vivekanand Ji Maharaj of Sadhana Kendra Ashram, Dumet who was the chief guest.

Swami Ji first visited the basement section of the new building to view the Sanitary Pad making machine and was pleased to see the functioning and also met the workforce operating the equipment. Swami Ji then proceeded for sapling plantation as part of the “Harela” festival celebrations in the hospital premises and was assisted by Dr Anuj Singhal, Secretary SVHM Society and Dr Tarashree, Executive member of the Society and other staff.

Everyone then assembled in the meeting hall for the function which began with ritualistic lighting of the lamps by the Chief Guest who was then accorded a ceremonial welcome by Dr Tarashree and presented with a bouquet.

As part of Guru Purnima and following the tradition of Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh everyone performed the Bhagwa Dhwaj-pujan. The Saffron Flag, commonly known as, ‘Bhagwa Dhwaj’, is considered to be the ‘Guru’ and has been a venerated symbol of the national culture and tradition of India since ages.

The function then had a melodious Kumauni song “Lakh Harayava” sung by the hospital staff on the occasion of the Harela festival followed by a solo number sung by one of the staff members glorifying the Hindu traditions and culture.

The function then progressed and the audience had the privilege of listening to an inspiring discourse by Swami Prem Vivekanand Ji Maharaj followed by a melodious bhajan which left everyone engrossed. The program concluded with the Shanti Mantra followed by vote of thanks address by Dr. Anuj Singhal.
