WEBINAR ON ACNE VULGARIS (PIMPLES) BY SENIOR DERMATOLOGIST DR. NAKUL UPADHYAY

As part of the ongoing webinar CMEs/ case discussion being initiated by the SVHM society for their hospital Doctors, a fourth lecture in the series of common skin diseases and problems was taken by Dr. Nakul Upadhyay, a leading senior dermatologist associated with the SVHM society, on 23rd June 2020 from 3 to 4:30 pm. The topic for this lecture was Acne Vulgaris commonly known as Pimples and one of the most common skin problems faced by teenagers and young adults.
Dr. Nakul Upadhyay despite his busy schedule and commitments spared his valuable time again and gave his lecture in form of PowerPoint presentation and lecture. In his session lasting for more than an hour, he felicitously presented all major principal points such as:
Classification of acne with respect to age and gender.
Clinical morphology of acne.
Acne variants.
Potential factors causing acne.
Treatment algorithms.
Topical medical therapy for acne.
List of antibiotic agents causing acne.
Drugs which may cause or exacerbate acne and
Factors which modify acne.
The lecture was followed by a question and answer session in which a lot of doubts of the SVCH Doctors were clarified by the speaker.
After adequately clarifying everyone’s queries. During the end of his session, he gave an essential advice towards the preventive measures and also emphasized on the point that children and adult who are exposed to laptop and mobile screens for longer hours of duration are more vulnerable to get skin fissures (cleavage of the skin) due to exposure of Ultra Violet Rays.
